Crisp air. Leaves turning colors. Football. Apple Cider.
It's finally here! FALL. I love love love this time of year. It just can't get any better for me. I am obsessed with fall coats. I can drink apple cider by the gallon. The sounds of a football game being played is music to my ears. Don't roll your eyes silly! I love me some FOOT.ball.
So every year, I take vacation from my full-time gig for the 4 days following Labor Day. It's my mommy on a mission time. I clean out our storage room and closets to "purge." It still ends up being full. I have no idea how that happens, right? After I am done, the reward is that I get to pull out all my fall stuff. Oh man. Do I have stuff.
Here's the storage room as of today. It's already getting messed up again!
I just want you all to know how special you are. Even my BFF The Enabler has a hard time getting a peek at this disaster!
This year I was very excited because it is first time I was going to decorate the top of my new... ummm... dining room cabinet. It's not a hutch, it's not technically a mantel, but to me, it's sooo PERFECT.
I finished it last fall, so the top didn't get the star fall treatment like normal. This will also be your first view of my dining room! Aren't you super duper excited for the super tiny room? HA.
Let's start with the table"scape." Remember when I showed you my great-grandmother's treasure trove of blue mason jars? This is where a few of them landed.
I added a bit of burlap, a few mossy rocks from the dollar store, tiny little pumpkin potpourri in each with a candle. I added the fabric napkin for a bit of extra orange. I just love the blue of the mason jars with the fall colors.
I did a small update over on the picture collage wall too. The pumpkins in the center were centerpieces from my Mom's wedding.
Have I been building the suspense? Are you ready for the cabinet of my dreams? OH WAIT! It's already mine. EEEE. So giddy.
This is my fall "mantel." I had the cabinet built so that I had plenty of room to decorate the top.
Sorry about the flash. Sigh. I will learn how to use my camera. Someday. Please also forgive the light fixture. LOL. The room is small and it's hard to get a good shot. I know. excuses, excuses. Here's a close up of the top.
I am excited about my chalkboard art in the center. My own form of word art. The old window shelf is from a fabulous store in Lancaster, PA. It is a great way to display a bunch of little things.
The pitcher above is also from my great-grandmother's house. It's so old and beautiful, but cracked. Hopefully I can find a way to keep it in tact. The sticks coming out of it were a random purchase last year. I just love the simplicity of it.
Just so we do not discriminate, the tool above is from the scrumptious hubby's grandmother. I do love older pieces. They have such charm!
WHEW! Fall decorating. Check! My hubby says it's his favorite decorating that I do. He thinks it feels warm and cozy. I like to think so. Well, I like to think that until it's time to switch to the winter decorations.
Do you enjoy fall decor as much as I do? I would love to hear from you! Please leave a comment to say Howdy! Have a great day!

DeleteHi Cheryl, we are such "Soul Sisters"! I love your dining room, and like you, this is my favorite time of the year. That crisp air, the foliage, the decorating! I love it all. I have to admit that I've added yet another box of Halloween decorations to my ever growing collection (darned that Home Goods store).
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to more pictures and updates on your blog. I've missed them greatly!
Diane
love the fall too, but your decorating is the best..the cabinet looks great and all the pieces have so much memory it even makes it more special..proud of you
ReplyDeleteI am absolutely so envious of your awesome cabinet/cupboard. It's great. Looks like you've had it forever. You did such a great job of decorating the top and inside, I love, love it so much. Everything you have on top and the dishes inside, oh they are incredible.
ReplyDeleteDon't know what it is about Fall but I sure do love it, cooler air, windows and doors open, absolutely gorgeous colors. I live very much by color. If I don't have it I'm not as happy. I just need color and the colors of Fall are perfect for me, my favorites. I try to change but always seem to go back to them, I wear the colors of fall most of them time. Love pastels but they don't look good on me at all.
How lucky are you to have those wonderful blue ball jars from your Grandmother? I have a few but I acquired them in KY mostly where we lived before CO. I've watched over those jars, have some clear ones also. Out of all our moves only one clear jar has gotten broken. My hubs tried to get rid of my jars, what an insult. He knows better now, especially since I've been reading blogs for last year and a half. Finding blogs was one of best things to ever happen to me. Love yours and I'm subscribing, hope you'll have me as a subscriber. Happy week
Thanks so much! I do love blue mason jars!! They really go with everything!
